We will explore the foundations of the Vajrayana and discuss empowerment, samaya, and the creation, recitation and completion stages of yidam practice. Saturday, June 16, GURU RINPOCHE “IronMountain” LONG-LIFE EMPOWERMENT, 2:00 p.m. (arrive by 1:45 p.m.) Bestowed by Venerable Lama Tsang Tsing. This special Empowerment of Guru Rinpoche is a blessing for long life and other favorable conditions. Guru Rinpoche stated that it is particularly important for Dharma practitioners to live a long life so that they have as much time as possible to practice the Dharma. By practicing Dharma one can accumulate merit and pacify obscurations and negativities, thus leading one out of the state of samsara and enabling one to achieve the state of Buddhahood. Vow of refuge required.
 
Sunday, June 17, CHÖD EMPOWERMENT, 2:00 p.m. (arrive by 1:45 p.m.) The Chöd Empowerment has the power to plant the seed for abandoning ego clinging, which is the root of all our suffering. In addition, it also plants the seed for understanding the nature of one’s own mind and realizing the state of Mahamudra. Because the practice of Chöd is so powerful, all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism perform it. In the Kagyu lineage, the Third Karmapa was the main lineage holder. One must receive the Empowerment from a qualified Vajra Master who has received the transmission from an unbroken lineage. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to receive this Empowerment from Venerable Lama Tsang Tsing. Vow of refuge required.
 
Monday, June 18, MEDICINE BUDDHA EMPOWERMENT, 5:00 p.m. (arrive by 4:45 p.m.) Bestowed by Venerable Lama Tsang Tsing. The Medicine Buddha Empowerment is considered to be the most powerful blessing for healing both the body and mind, dispelling sickness and suffering, and awakening the nature of mind.  Vow of refuge required.
 
The suggested donation for Empowerments is $25 for nonmembers and $20 for members of KTP. It is also customary to make a donation to the empowering Lama. Please arrive 15 minutes before the ceremonies; late arrivals will not be admitted.
